Iranian ‘Crab’ to walk into Shanghai fest

The Shanghai Int’l filmfest in China is to host Iranian ‘Crab’.

The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China has given a screening slot to Iranian short title ‘Crab’.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, the 11-minute flick will compete for a Golden Goblet at the 23rd edition of the Chinese event.

‘Crab’, which has been produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, is about a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school.

But the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

The animated flick will soon take part at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan.

As a filmmaker, Sadeq-Asadi has already made a name for her award-winning short ‘Manned & Macho’ which has been and awarded at various global film events in Russia, South Korea, Italy, Australia, the US and Ukraine.

According to an earlier report ‘The Badger’ is another Iranian flick to attend the Shanghai fest.

Established in 1993, the SIFF focuses on the markets, forums and film exhibitions to build an international platform.

The festival was originally scheduled for the month of June 2020, but it was postponed over the coronavirus outbreak.

The event’s updated announced date is July 25-August 2, 2020.
